But the Sun King's missing the point when he complains about Mike's serious approach. You need to get the lessons, practice your short game til you're bored stiff and never forget that every shot's a prisoner. A bit of misery's essential if you're ever going to really enjoy yourself!
Work on that short game and I predict the Sun King will be breaking 100 every time he plays. Even in the drizzle. How much fun will that be!!

In response to:Le Guen vindicated as Ferguson shows his true class!

hahaha...Rangers.
We've played them twice in the Champions League groups stage and we gave then a bit of a scare - especially at Celtic Park. I wonder if they or any of the big English clubs would be half as good if they did not get the SkyTV money. I do wish McStay had played somewhere else. Some good stuff here. Ferguson or McStay? Rangers or Celtic? It's a couple of toss ups. The gap at the top of the Premier League was 3 points the last time I looked. I tell you what though, they're both better than Dumbarton.

McStay and Ferguson are interesting cases. And probably living proof that spending your career playing for your boyhood heroes is a very bad idea. Neither had the bottle to try to make it on a bigger stage (unless you count 18 months at Blackburn Rovers)and history will see them as underachievers. In fact history already sees McStay that way. Ferguson is even more of a disappointment because, as sanpietro says, he's at his best in a really good team a sure sign of the class needed to make it at the highest level.

The true Scottish midfield giants of the past 15 or 20 years are Lambert, Collins and Fletcher. Winners in environments that make the Scottish Premier league indeed look like a 'tallest dwarf competition'. Not least because they share a mental toughness that McStay and probably Ferguson could only dream of.

Homesick in Blackburn? Please!!

In response to:Old Firm Highlights - Where, When?

Fair points well made, but I think there is mounting evidence of fans of both sides getting fed up with poor quality and voting with their feet. Results do count, but people's emotional attachments to clubs might wane of they don't see the style of football they love to watch - even if it's only occasionally.

In response to:Old Firm Highlights - Where, When?

An appropriate review of an apt performance. Being your part-time, student supporter, subsisting only on the highlights reel from legitimate sources such as the beeb, or illegitimate sources such as either youtube or botched stetanta at their work, I could say no more.

Both Flood and McGeady (seen as our key or prospective playmakers) seemed reasonably anonymous, minus the formers' cross for the McDonald "sitter", which leaves me to ask if our strikers having been taking tips from Chris "I'm pure well 'weegie" Iwleumo.

Secondly, Crosas, our young blood midfielder and favourite for soundbite articles from the Daily Record should be starting the game and not subbed on for another key player (Brown) in the dying minutes of the match.

However, I'm not going to join the masses of supporters who believe that 'Strachan Must Go', neither am I going to join the rebel group who state that 'He Must Stay'. It's just that his tactics don't make sense sometimes.

Albeit from me to tell him how to run his team, as the only experience that I have from this is on a computer console, but I feel that we (prepare for the kiss of death) be on the mythical four-in-a-row. John Fleck will not be the next great white hope, but the next Chris Burke. Pedro Mendes will venture away from Mordor to the glamorous climates of the Greek Premier League and Barry Ferguson will still play amazing square balls.

Hail Hail and all that.

In response to:Old Firm Highlights - Where, When?

Thanks for report, good stuff. I'd take issue with a couple of things though (well it is a blog)

Not sure the object is to score goals if you'd just qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League by getting a 0-0. Success is what it's about? Definitely not Walter's job to entertain celtic fans (or Gordon's Rangers fans), in fact I reckon he thought 'job done' on sunday night.

Sounds like a poor game but the standard's ok in general. The problem might be it's not getting any better. Celtic, rangers (and the national team) are all much of a muchness - mid-table Premiership. That's ok for a wee country with two big club sides. Occasionally one of our three teams will get the blend right and qualify from a World Cup finals group/make a Champions League semi. No reason why not.

What's your problem, do you suffer from SAD like me? In the recent few years you have come through an awful lot, yet reading this sounds like you are about to commit sepuku!

Do you complain about the poor service when it occurs or do you just let it slide, our American cousins don't put up with poor service which is why their experience is far better at all levels of eateries, educate these yoofs they don't know any better, and clearly neither does the management of these establishments!

Celtic are pathetic at the moment, perhaps we and they have been kidding ourselves on after the Great Escape last year, but the good news is that Rangers are rubbish too. I think you need to have a word with your big mate frugal McDougall, get the inside track and find out what he and his colleagues are going to do to sort out the malaise?

To close, can I just ask you to be happy with the fact that you can afford to go and watch your team whilst resting your deriere in a fine padded seat and dine out with your wonderful wife in some of the UKs finest eateries.

In response to:Exclusive: Car Stops at Red Light!

I refuse to rise to this bait. Being a Celtic fan is truly depressing at this time. As a part-time supporter, who has a self-imposed ban from watching our Sunday games - due to the fact that by tuning in, it signals several players to make momentous blunders - I can't see how signing players such as Niall McGinn will benefit the squad in anyway. We need quality not quantity where players are concerned.
